Turkish PM meets tallest man on earth

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan completed a two-day visit to Mardin on Feb. 17, but not before greeting one of the southeastern province’s most famous natives, the tallest man on earth, Sultan Kösen. 

Erdoğan chatted with Kösen following the opening of a new shopping mall in the province’s Kızıltepe district. 
 
Known for his cheerful and engaging personality, Kösen stands an incredible 8 feet, 3 inches (2.51 meters) tall. Erdoğan, who usually surpasses most politicians, is six feet (1.83 meters) tall.  
 
Erdoğan met Kösen a few years ago, before the latter had stopped growing. “That’s enough, don’t grow more,” the prime minister had said.
