Turkish PM accuses PKK and BDP on hunger strikes

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) are the groups responsible for pushing prisoners to conduct hunger strikes, not the government, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said today, daily Hürriyet has reported.

“They are sustaining necrophilia. Forcing people, who are already paying a price in prisons, to hunger strikes is just injustice,” Erdoğan said.

The prime minister also said the BDP should call on prisoners to end their strike.

“Do these people have to be a part of your bloody games, death games?” Erdoğan said. “These actions are a way to put the struggle, which should have been conducted as political effort on the outside, on young bodies.”
