Turkish military kills 17 PKK militants in Turkey’s southeast

A total of 17 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed in Turkey’s southeast on July 10 and 11. 

Eight PKK militants, who the military stated were on the verge of planning an attack, were killed in airstrikes early on July 11 in the Dargeçit district of the southeastern province of Mardin.

The General Staff also stated that two machine gun positions were destroyed in the airstrikes.     

Another airstrike killed three militants on the same day in the southeastern province of Hakkari, it added.    

In addition, the military killed six PKK militants in Hakkari on July 10 in ongoing counterterrorism operations, the Hakkari Governor’s Office stated on July 11.   

The six were killed in an air-supported operation in the Urşe-Cafer area of Yüksekova district, it added.
