Turkish military exchanges fire with Syrian group on border

ISTANBUL

The Turkish Armed Forces have exchanged fire with a group of 500 civilians who tried to illegally enter Turkey today around 8.a.m., at the Bükülmez border post region near Syrian border, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Armed Forces.

The group was carrying diesel fuel, the statement said. Several warning calls were made to stop the group via a military armoured vehicle in the region, which was then fired at by 30 shots of fire.

After the fire exchange, the group fled toward Syria, the statement added.
