Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) granted Aug. 15 its leader authority to enter coalition talks with the Justice and Development Party (AKP).

Devlet Bahçeli is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on Aug. 17 to discuss forming a government.

The prime minister's invite to Bahçeli came after talks with the Republican People's Party (CHP) failed on Aug. 13.

Davutoğlu has just over a week until a deadline on forming a coalition, after which a fresh election is likely to be called.
