Turkish man commits suicide after murdering his family

A man committed suicide after shooting his wife, seven children and brother last night in Istanbul, daily Hürriyet reported.

Engin Sargık, 36, reportedly committed the murders during an attack of hysteria.

Three of Sargık's children and his brother were found dead when police arrived at the family's house in Istanbul's Bağcılar district. Two other children died after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

Sargık has been reportedly declared brain dead, and the other victims remain in critical condition at the hospital with severe injuries.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
