Turkish lawmaker İhsanoğlu suffers cardiac arrest during Baku visit

A Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) lawmaker suffered a heart attack during his visit to Azerbaijan on March 16.
MHP Istanbul lawmaker Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu was in the country to attend the “Regional security, regional peace: Middle East” panel of the Sixth Global Baku Forum.
İhsanoglu, a former secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, left the forum hall before finishing his speech and received treatment at the Central Clinic Hospital.
Assoc. Prof. Firdovsi Ibrahimov, Cardiology Service Chief, told Anadolu Agency that İhsanoğlu’s condition was better but he needs to stay at the hospital’s intensive care unit for 36 hours.
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım wished a speedy recovery to the lawmaker and called İhsanoğlu’s wife Füsun İhsanoğlu.
