Turkish jets strike 12 PKK targets in Iraq’s north, army says

Turkish jets hit more than 10 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions as part of operations in northern Iraq, the Turkish army said on May 18.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said 12 targets used by the militant group as shelters and weapons emplacements were destroyed in northern Iraq’s Gara, Metina, Sinath-Haftanin and Hakurk regions in airstrikes carried out since May 17.
One Turkish soldier was killed and another wounded during an operation against the PKK in southeastern Turkey, a security source said on May 11.
Another soldier was killed in northern Iraq by the PKK on May 8, the army said.
