Turkish jets kill 3 PKK militants in southeast
ANKARA - Anadolu Agency
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement that three PKK militants were killed in a security operation in the Şemdinli district of the southeastern province of Hakkari on the night of Sept. 12.
Three PKK targets were also destroyed in the operation, the statement said.
In a separate operation in the Çukurca district, security forces seized weapons belonging to PKK militants.
Both Şemdinli and Çukurca have seen sweeping anti-PKK operations conducted by the military since July last year.
The air strikes came a day after PKK militants detonated a car bomb targeting a police checkpoint in front of the provincial headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the eastern province of Van, wounding 53 people including four police officers and four Iranian citizens.
