Turkish grandma appears on Russian TV for caring for lost boy victim of traffic accident

An elderly Turkish woman living in the southern province of Antalya, Gülsüm Kabadayı, was a guest on a popular Russian talk show after taking care of a Russian boy who had been lost four years, Doğan news agency has reported.

The TV show hoped to find relatives of the young boy by showing his story on TV.

The boy was hit by a car in Antalya in 2008 and was left bedbound.

Kabadayı, who happened to be at the hospital when the authorities were searching for the boy’s relatives, took over his care.

The audience at the reality show expressed their respect for the elderly woman.

The boy was called "Umut" (hope) at the hospital and given Turkish identification by the Turkish authorities.
