Turkish forces arrest PKK militant

Turkish security forces have arrested a PKK militant in Istanbul, security sources said on May 1.

Mehmet Halit A. was taken into custody on April 29, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.         

He was responsible for the terror group's structure in Sweden.     

PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.

In the meantime, Turkish security forces neutralized five PKK militants in southern Hatay province, the governor's office announced on April 1.

Gendarmerie special operations teams killed the militants in an operation in the Mt. Amanos region, it said in a statement.       

Mt. Amanos is a range of mountains in Hatay that the PKK/PYD militant group has used to penetrate Turkey from Syria.
