Adana İdman Yurdu’s women’s football team has provided a haven for women aged between 16 and 30 who migrated to the southern province to escape the difficult situations in eastern and southeastern Turkey exacerbated by the fight between the Turkish army and Kurdish militants, daily Hürriyet reported today.

Adana İdman Yurdu Woman's Football Team has 18 players consisting of 12 players from Tunceli, Şanlıurfa, Mardin, Elazığ and Diyarkabır.

The team, which is challenging for honors, started to play in professional women’s leagues 19 years ago.

"Our diplomacy is football," said the captain of the team, Songül Paksoy.
