Turkish FM meets US officials in Washington to discuss Mideast

Davutoglu met Monday US President Barack Obama's National Security Adviser James Jones in Washington and the U.S. special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke.
He will meet Dennis Ross, the special envoy to Iran on Tuesday as well as Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday.
Davutoglu's visit comes as Turkey was taking over the United Nations Security Council's rotating presidency beginning Monday.
In a meeting with reporters on Monday, Davutoglu praised the Obama administrations early foreign policy moves, AP reported. He said Obama had improved relations with Turkey with the speech made to Turkish lawmakers in Ankara in April.
Davutoglu will deliver a speech on Tuesday evening as part of the 28th annual conference of the American-Turkish Council, or ATC.
He will also due hold talks in New York on Wednesday and Thursday within the framework of Turkey's rotating presidency at the U.N. Security Council.
