CAIRO
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was received by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sept. 14 and discussed the situation in Gaza. Fidan also met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Through Saturday, Fidan was paying a two-day official visit to Egypt at Shoukry’s invitation.
His discussions with Egyptian officials covered also all aspects of bilateral ties, as well as current regional developments and international issues.
A statement from the Egyptian presidency said al-Sisi and Fidan agreed that the ongoing escalation threatens the region’s “stability and security, which requires intensive international efforts to immediately cease violence.”
The statement said al-Sisi and Fidan expressed concerns about Israel’s “collective punishment” of the Palestinians in Gaza and called for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged strip.
Afterwards, Fidan and Shoukry held a joint presser. Fidan said there are almost 300 Turkish citizens with dual nationality in Gaza, 30 of them have been evacuated and Türkiye will continue to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
