Turkish films now shown in Lebanon

The 2nd Turkish Film Festival opened yesterday in the Lebanese capital Beirut’s Metropolis Movie Theater.The Turkish ambassador in Beirut İnan Özyıldız, the European Union Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, and the Spanish, Egyptian and Polish ambassadors in Beirut, as well as Turkish producers and directors, attended the opening of the festival organized by the İzmir Cinema Association.
The festival began with Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da” (Once Upon A Time in Anatolia).
Özyıldız said the festival was of great importance for cultural ties between Turkey and Lebanon.
Tayfun Pirselimoğlu’s “Saç” (Hair), Seren Yüce’s “Çoğunluk” (Majority), Derviş Zaim’s “Gölgeler ve Suretler” (Shadows and Faces) and Fatih Akın’s “Duvara Karşı” (Against the Wall) are among the films to be screened in the festival, which will continue until March 11.
