Turkish film music fest in Boston

The 11th Boston Turkish Film and Music Festival kicked off yesterday with a screening of “Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da” (Once Upon a Time in Anatolia), by renowned director Nuri Bilge Ceylan.The founder and director of the festival Erkut Gömülü said before the opening of the event the festival would screen contemporary Turkish films and works by directors until April 28.
It has also been announced that director Tayfun Pirselimoğlu would be presented an award at a ceremony at the Boston Fine Arts Faculty.
The Boston Turk Film Festival is the first Turkish film festival initiated in cooperation with a U.S. fine arts museum. A reception also took place at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts after the film screened.
Among the films to be screened at the festival will be Reis Çelik’s “Lal Gece” (Night of Silence), Muzaffer Özdemir’s “Yurt” (Home), “Özcan Alper’s “Gelecek Uzun Sürer” (Future Lasts Forever), Yüksel Aksu’s “Entelköy Efeköy’e Karşı” (Entelköy vs. Efeköy), Tolga Örnek’s “Kaybedenler Kulübü” (Losers’ Club) and Derviş Zaim’s “Gölgeler ve Suretler” (Shadows and Faces), among others.
