Turkish company filmed in factory documentary

A Turkish brand has been featured in National Geographic TV station’s “Megafactories” documentary for the first time.With Zorlu Holding’s company, Vestel, being shown in the documentary, it also became the first firm from the white goods and electronics sectors represented in the series, which has included more than 70 companies up to now.
“Turkey’s entrance to this series via Vestel City [the plant], which opened in 2003, is a very proud moment for us, as well as our country,” Vestel Chairman Turan Doğan said.
Erdoğan stated that Vestel manufactured 76,000 products a day, a total of 15 million electronic products and 7 million white goods products a year. Before selecting it for the documentary, National Geographic took into consideration Vestel’s production capacity, as well as other criteria such as its closed area location and staff number.
Erdoğan said Vestel exported 88 percent of the products manufactured in Vestel City, to a total of 140 countries.
National Geographic’s “Megafactories” features the world’s sector leading brands such as Coca-Cola, Ferrari, Boeing, Jack Daniels, Lego, Ikea, and Lamborghini.
