Turkish citizens will vote for June 7 polls at 112 locations abroad

Some 1.4 million Turkish citizens were authorized to vote in Germany, where 13 voting locations will be prepared, while France follows with 311,796 voters. 

A total of six ballot locations are marked in France. 

Turkish citizens will also vote in the elections at Turkish embassies and consulates in other countries. Voting will be possible in Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Washington in the United States. 

Turkish citizens abroad voted for the first time in foreign countries in the presidential election on Aug. 10, 2014, but an appointment system that dedicated certain hours for each voter failed to net attraction. The appointment system has since been lifted. 

Parties have attached great importance to voters from abroad, making sure to meet with them in Europe during their campaigns. 

Two of Turkey’s opposition parties kicked-off their foreign election campaigns in Germany earlier this month, targeting the more than 2.7 million Turkish voters living abroad. 

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli began his party’s foreign election campaign in the German city of Oberhausen on April 26.

A day earlier, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) launched its foreign election campaign in the German city of Düsseldorf.
