Turkish boss buys frame for $100,000

Turkish businessman Murat Ülker has reportedly paid over $100,000 for an empty frame, as the newest addition to his art collection from famous Turkish painter Bedri Baykam.

According to sources, Bedri Baykam, who is inaugurating an exhibition in New York today, sold an empty frame to Yıldız Holding Chairman Ülker, which will be demonstrated at the exhibition titled “Duchamp Would Have Been Damn Jealous,” at New York’s The Proposition Gallery.

Murat Ülker, one of the top business people in Turkey, has been watched closely by the art world ever since his purchase of a painting by legendary Turkish artist Burhan Doğançay’s for $1.7 million. The piece Ülker bought at the time is one of Turkey’s most famous modern art pieces, “Mavi Senfoni” (Blue Symphony).
