Turkish ballet dancers take stage in Canada

The Antalya State Opera and Ballet dancers performed in Canada’s Calgary.
During a special gala night in Calgary, the 2012 Canadian Capital of Culture, the Antalya State Opera and Ballet dancers presented the world premiere of two productions, “Vienna” and “The Rite of the Spring.”They were choreographed by the State Opera and Ballet head choreographer Mehmet Balkan.
Some 14 Turkish ballet dancers, who were invited to Canada by Jeunesse Classical Ballet, returned to Turkey after their success on the stage.
They took the stage with foreign dancers at the gala night, titled “Illumination.” The first performance was “Vienna,” with the music of Johann Strauss. In the second part of the show, the dancers performed “The Rite of Spring” with the music of Igor Stravinsky. The performances were accompanied by the Calgary Youth Orchestra under the baton of Edmund Agopian.
Along with the dancers of the Antalya State Opera and Ballet, dancers from the Canadian National Ballet, American Ballet and New York City Ballet were on the stage for the two performances.
