Former military personnel dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces over the past 40 years due to decisions from the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) will be recruited as “researchers.”

The Defense Ministry has opened 2,000 researcher posts for personnel dismissed through YAŞ decisions or without correct judicial procedures, private NTV news station reported.

The regulation relates to those who lost their jobs between the March 12, 1971 and March 22, 2011, according to the Official Gazette. The Defense Ministry will decide who is eligible for the researcher position and the State Personnel Department will appoint the candidates. If these “researchers” change their institution, resign, or die, the position will be cancelled altogether.

The candidate must be a Turkish citizen and should not have any ties with the military.
