Turkish Armed Forces states that PKK set vehicle alight
ANKARA
A group of outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members intercepted a pickup truck in Mardin before setting it alight on May 21, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has announced in an official statement. The statement added that units from the Mardin Provincial Gendarmerie Command had been dispatched to the scene, upon instruction from the Mardin Prosecutor’s Office.“Near the village of Göllü, three armed members of the separatist terrorist organization intercepted a vehicle pickup truck loaded with wood, which was also carrying one passenger in addition to the driver.
Forcing them out of the vehicle, the terrorist organization members threatened the citizens not to cut wood, seized their telephones and set alight the vehicle by pouring diesel oil on it,” the TSK stated.
Customarily, the TSK doesn’t cite the name of the PKK in its official statements, instead describing it as “the separatist terrorist organization.”
The driver informed the Mardin/Ömerli Gendarmerie Outpost command a few hours after the incident took place on the early evening of May 21, according to the statement.
The TSK statement, classified under “Important Domestic Incidents,” concluded by saying that units from the Mardin Provincial Gendarmerie Command had been dispatched to the scene of the incident on May 22, upon instruction from the Mardin Prosecutor’s Office.
