Turkish and Japanese firms to join in Iraq bids

Turkish and Japanese firms are set to gather on July 5 in Istanbul to seek cooperation opportunities for possible projects in Iraq’s construction and energy sectors, the Turkish Economy Ministry said yesterday.“The Turkish-Japanese Cooperation Seminar in the Iraqi Energy and Construction Market,” is co-sponsored by the Turkish Economy Ministry and the Japanese government, and it is expected to be attended by some 30 construction, energy and machinery companies from Japan. There will also be a Japanese delegation of 130 people including among others Mitsubishi Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yorihiko Kojima and General Manager Satoshi Uchida.
Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan is set to deliver the opening remarks at the event, which will explore joint projects.
In particular among the projects up for discussion are railways, highways, electrical power plants and distribution centers, ports, airports, hospitals, and water and industrial facilities.
