Turkish Airlines on Jan. 27 signed a code-sharing agreement with Hawaiian Airlines that will expand options for customers traveling from Turkey to Hawaii via points in the Far East.

According to an official statement from the company, the agreement allows Turkish Airlines to put its “TK” booking code on Hawaiian’s daily flights between Osaka, Japan and Honolulu and Hawaiian Airlines’ five-a-week service between Honolulu and Seoul.

The announcement was made by Turkish Airlines and Hawaian Airlines representatives with a ceremony in San Francisco.

Turkish Airlines Chairman İlker Aycı was accompanied by Chief Investment & Technology Officer Ahmet Bolat and Chief Marketing Officer Ahmet Olmuştur, who expressed their satisfaction at the enhanced cooperation between both airlines.

“As Turkish Airlines, we are extremely pleased to sign this code-sharing agreement with Hawaiian Airlines, which will improve our partnership and maximize the travel opportunities offered to our passengers through the networks of both airlines,” said Aycı.

“We look forward to introducing more Turkish Airlines customers to our authentic Hawaiian hospitality, award-winning on-time performance and quality of service on their journey from Istanbul to our island home,” said Hawaiian Airlines’ CEO and President Mark Dunkerley.

Flights will be available for purchase following the necessary approvals from the respective countries’ civil aviation authorities. Turkish Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are also considering an extension of their code-sharing agreement to include each carrier’s flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).

According to the Skytrax survey of 2015, Turkish Airlines was chosen “Europe’s Best Airline” for the fifth consecutive time and “Best Airline in Southern Europe” for the seventh consecutive time.
