Turkey’s local elections to take place on March 31, 2019

Turkey’s Supreme Board of Elections (YSK) has set the date for the upcoming local elections as March 31, 2019.
The election period starts on Jan. 1, 2019 and the elections should take place on the last Sunday of March in accordance with the local administration elections law, YSK said in its decision published in the Official Gazette on Oct. 26.
Employees of the public sector, army and judiciary excluding the workers, faculty members, and executives of the trade unions, chambers and public banks have to resign or request retirement by Dec. 1 to get eligibility for candidacy, the decision said.
