Turkey’s largest science center serves to train children, scientists of future

The Bursa Science and Technology Center, a project developed by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and recently opened, is the largest museum in Turkey in its field. Opened with an investment of nearly 27 million Turkish Liras, the center will educate the scientists of the future and aims to be one of the five largest in Europe. 

The center has a 9,000-square-meter closed area and 20,000-square-meter open area. It includes some 270 testing areas at 14 different points. It also has special galleries such as renewable energy, adventure of water, huge machine energy machine as well as 3D movie theater, a planetarium and etc. 
In the center, an exhibition titled “Sultans of the Science” features scientists who lived in the Golden Age and their inventions. The purpose of the exhibition is for young people to gain inspiration from the works of Turkish and Muslim scientists. 

The exhibition was previously on display in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Dubai, Malaysia and Norway. It is made up of 35 interactive and applied mechanisms, three touch-screen games, 10 video screenings and 75 posters. The exhibition, which spreads over an area of 800 square meters, will remain open until June. 

Bursa Mayor Recep Altepe said, “After researching all scientific centers in the U.S., Europe, Africa and Asia, we have made the best project with a financial source of 27 million liras. The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) provided a source of 43 million liras for the project.”
