Turkey’s industrial production up 1.7 percent in February

Turkey’s industrial production increased by 1.7 percent in February 2015 from the previous month, and 1 percent from the same period in the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said in a statement on April 8.According to TÜİK, the largest increase was in the manufacturing of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, which rose by 10 percent from January.
Next was the manufacturing of furniture, up 8.1 percent in February compared to the previous month, and the manufacturing of electrical equipment, up 7.2 percent.
Mining and quarrying production rose by 5.8 percent, manufacturing increased by 1.7 percent, and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply rose by 0.3 percent in February 2015.
Production of durable consumer goods also showed a significant 6.6 percent jump in February 2015 compared to the previous month.
However, production of transport equipment dropped by 11.7 percent, the TÜİK figures showed.
