Turkey's first beach library opens in Fethiye park

The beach library, which is the first one in Turkey, has opened in Kumburnu Nature Park in the western province of Muğla’s town of Fethiye.In the opening of the library, Muğla Governor Mustafa Hakan Güvençer said that all tourists on the beach would be able to use the books in the library for free. “I have attended many opening ceremonies so far, but this is the first I have opened a beach library,” he added.
Ölüdeniz Muğla Handicrafts Companies (MELSA) Fethiye Branch Coordinator Muhammet Serttaş said the idea of beach library had come out during one of the weekly meetings and it was the first in Turkey.
“We will make the library larger in the coming days,” he said, adding they were open to book donations from people.
The library, opened by MELSA operating affiliated with the Muğla Governor’s Office, offers books in Turkish, English, German and Russian.
