Turkey’s exports raise to $12.5 bln last month

ISTANBUL

Turkey’s export volume reached $12.55 billion last month, marking a 0.3 percent increase from March 2012, according to figures revealed by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).

As the automotive sector’s exports worth $1.86 make up the major part of exports last month, ready-wear ranked second, followed by the steel sector.

Turkey’s exports to the European Union decreased by 4 percent while exports showed a 4 percent increase to the Middle East and Africa and a 1 percent increase to the Commonwealth of Independent states.

TİM’s figures show that in terms of countries, exports to Libya rose by 62 percent, to China by 27 percent, and to Bulgaria and Brazil by 30 percent.

Total exports in the first three months of this year reached to $36.48 billion, representing a 3 percent increase.

Also, exports in the last 12 months were worth a total of $153.71 billion, marking a 10.8 percent increase.
