Turkey's consumer confidence index slightly increases last month

Confidence of Turkish consumers seems to have slightly increased, indicated by the 0.9 percent increase of the consumer price index in April from a month earlier.The consumer confidence index, calculated from the results of the Consumer Tendency Survey, carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) and the Central Bank, rose to 75.6 in April, from 74.9 of March.
Turkish consumers’ expectations of seeing a better economic outlook rose, with the index of the general economic situation expectation for the upcoming 12 months, which rose 3.3 percent from 98 in March to 101.3 in April.
The index indicating expectations about the number of people unemployed increased by 1.7 percent, reaching 87.4.
However, Turkish consumers are more pessimistic about their prospects on the possibility of saving, with the index for saving probability falling by 8.6 percent to 22.7.
