Turkey’s car production increases in September

In September alone, the country’s total motor vehicle production rose 4 percent year-on-year to 116,281 vehicles while passenger car production increased 11 percent to 72,120 units.

Turkey’s passenger car production increased 11 percent in September compared with the same period of last year thanks to a rise in automotive exports to Europe, the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) has said.

In September alone, the country’s total motor vehicle production rose 4 percent year-on-year to 116,281 vehicles while passenger car production increased 11 percent to 72,120 units though commercial vehicle output declined 5 percent to 44,161 units.

Motor vehicle exports rose 6 percent this year to 653,084 in the first nine months of 2014, including a 22 percent growth in passenger car exports to 433,314, and a 17 percent decrease in commercial vehicle exports to 219,770.

Turkey’s total motor vehicle production declined 1 percent this year to 835,782 units in the nine months through September, the association said. Passenger car production alone increased 14 percent year-on-year to 531,492 units during the review period, while commercial vehicle production dropped 19 percent to 304,290, the association showed.
