Turkey’s flight traffic increased by 11 percent to 122,500 and passenger traffic by 13.7 percent in September compared to the same month in 2012, a statement from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority released for September 2013 said.

According to the official numbers, domestic flight numbers increased by 15.5 percent, to over 64,000 compared to September 2012. International flight numbers reached 58,000 by an 8.9 percent increase.

The total plane traffic number reached record highs by increasing 12.3 percent to over 122,000.

Thus, a total of 115 million passengers were carried by flight in the first nine months of the year by increasing 13.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Air cargo traffic increased as well. Around 266,000 tons of air cargo was carried in September by an 11.8 percent increase compared to the same month of the previous year. A total of 1.9 million tons of air cargo was carried in the first nine months of the year.
