Turkey to ‘turn India’s energy into renewables’

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yıldız stated on June 26 that they were working on transforming India’s energy to locals and renewables, noting that the power of the energy council in India was three times bigger than Turkey’s.

Taner Yıldız said India had achieved important advances in renewable energy, during a meeting with Indian Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah in Turkey’s capital Ankara.
Abdullah said that 80 percent of India’s energy was foreign-dependent.

“From now on, we aim to use the energy God gave to us, too. Now, our power is 26,000 megawatt, including wind and sun. Each year, we add 3,000 megawatt. Since 2010, we follow this policy,” he said.

Abdullah underlined that India wanted a “serious and large cooperation” in renewable energy, adding that he wanted to shake hands for a perfect cooperation between two countries.
