Turkey tightens airspace requirements on Israeli flights: report

Turkey has imposed tighter restrictions on Israeli cargo flights entering its airspace that have resulted in economic losses for Israeli companies, Israeli daily Haaretz reported.
 
The Israeli cargo flights were subjected to the measures for carrying dangerous material on board, including batteries and perfume.
 
Turkey has requested a 10-day prior notice for any flights that might be transporting similar substances, after which a further review will take place, authorities said.
 
The new restrictions have resulted in losses for Israeli companies that direct their Far East flights through Turkish airspace. Companies suffering losses have made demanded Israeli authorities tighten regulations against Turkish planes as a counter act.
 
An Israeli executive told Haaretz that they saw the recent changes as "a very serious move by Turkey."
 
Turkey’s relationship with Israel was severely strained in the aftermath of the Mavi Marmara incident in which nine Turks were killed at the hands of Israeli commandos in 2010.
