Turkey and Russia will hold negotiations over a cut in gas prices again next week and Turkey is still looking for a discount, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yıldız said on Jan. 23.“We have already had two meetings with our Russian partners on gas discounts. Unfortunately, we have not reached a consensus so far, but we are planning another meeting next week. Oil producing countries say they face problems from the oil plunge, but we want to use our right to have a discount in gas prices,” Yıldız said at a press conference in Ankara.
Back on Dec. 11, he had said that Turkey intended to secure a 15-percent discount for gas supplied from Russia by the end of 2014.
