Turkey-Russia meeting postponed for second time

The Seventh Turkish-Russian Joint Strategic Planning Group Meeting, a sub-mechanism of the Turkish-Russian High Level Cooperation Council (HLCC), was planned to be held in the southern province of Antalya on March 18, but has been postponed for the second time in one month.

The first meeting was scheduled for March 12-13, but was postponed to March 18.

The Joint Strategic Planning Group Meeting will be co-chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Serey Lavrov and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu for a comprehensive exchange of views on bilateral relations as well as current regional and international developments. Following the talks, the 2019-2020 Plan for Consultations between the Turkish and Russian foreign ministries were planned to be signed.

The event was to pave the way for the April 14 summit of the High-Level Cooperation Council in Russia.

“A detailed exchange of opinions on all issues on the bilateral agenda is planned in the context of preparations for the next meeting of the leaders of the two countries and the upcoming meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council,” Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier, adding that foreign policy issues such as the Syrian and Ukrainian crises will also be discussed.
