ANKARA – Anadolu Agency
An Ankara court on Sept.1 remanded in custody three suspects over the U.S. Embassy drive-by shooting on Aug. 20 in the capital Ankara, a judicial source said.
A total of six suspects were arrested in relation to the incident but only Ahmet Çelikten, Osman Gündas and Ersin Bayramhas were jailed pending trial by a court, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
According to the Ankara Governor's Office, Celikten and Gundas confessed to their involvement in the attack.
The attack took place at 5.30 a.m. local time (0230GMT) when six shots were fired from a white vehicle at the U.S. Embassy's main entrance.
Turkish security forces later said the suspects were drunk at the time of the attack.
