Turkey investigating drone found at Incirlik Air Base

ADANA

A crashed drone was retrieved at İncirlik Air Base in Turkey’s southern Adana province and taken to provincial police command by anti-terror police units for a further investigation.

According to the information obtained from security sources, the crashed drone was found on Dec. 23 in the 10th Tanker Base Command area.

Anti-terror police units arriving at the scene confiscated the drone and took it to the provincial police command for further investigation.

The drone flew over the air base for some time before crashing on the yard of the base, Demirören News Agency reported.

The police have not yet identified who operated the drone.

It appears to be a “regular” drone, but the officials are still inspecting the aerial vehicle to see if it recorded any images of the air base, according to the news agency.

In 2017, a Russian national ISIL militant was arrested for allegedly planning to down a U.S. plane stationed at İncirlik with a drone. He was detained while scouting around the base.
