Turkey detains 20 people trying to cross into Syria

Twenty people were detained April 4 in the south-central province of Kilis for allegedly trying to cross illegally into Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Turkish military has said.According to the Turkish General Staff’s statement released on April 5, the suspects were travelling in a minibus towards Turkey’s border with Syria when they were stopped in Kilis.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, the statement added.
Thousands of foreign fighters from all over the world are believed to have joined terrorist organizations, including ISIL in Syria and Iraq.
