Turkey could impose economic sanctions on Netherlands: Deputy PM Kurtulmuş
ANKARA
“Pressure [on the Netherlands] will continue until it compensates for what it had done. We have begun with political sanction and economic sanctions could also come in the future,” Kurtulmuş said in an interview with private broadcaster CNN Türk.
He also said it was the Dutch side that provoked the crisis, describing its stance as “barbaric” and “wild.”
Meanwhile, Kurtulmuş ruled out the option of withdrawing Turkey's ambassador to the Netherlands.
The current sanctions include the absence of high-level relations and a flight ban, he added.
“We will wait for the Netherlands’ stance now,” he said.
