Truck driver killed in PKK attack in eastern Turkey

A truck driver was killed and another person in the truck was wounded when outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants detonated a roadside bomb during the vehicle’s passage in the eastern province of Hakkari on Aug. 31.
The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on the 25th kilometer of the Hakkari-Çukurca road as the truck, which was transporting containers to the Meskan Tepe military zone area, was passing.
Security forces and ambulances were sent to the scene after the attack and the wounded person was taken to Hakkari Public Hospital.
Operations began in the area to apprehend the fleeing militants.
