Troy on Aspendos Arena stage
The dance project from the legendary dance association, Fire of Anatolia, is ready to meet its audience at Aspendos Arena. Through the art directing of Mustafa Erdoğan, Troy, a myth from Anatolia comes true. Troy is as old as the stories in the Sacred Book. Historical Ilion, or “Wilusa” city, as it was called by the Hittites, located in Hisarlık region of Canakkale and founded thousands of years ago, has served as the backdrop for many ancient myths. In one of the oldest and most well-known stories in the history of humankind, dreams and truth, science and utopia become intermingled with each other. Western civilization is indebted in its cultural inheritance to the Troy Myth. This story, estimated to have taken place in 1180 B.C., was again written into the memory of humanity by an Anatolian Poet. The story which had been written down by Homer, born in Izmir, in his immortal books of the Iliad and Odyssey, takes its place among the most well-known compositions in the world.
