Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota’s new Corolla, which is to enter production in Turkey by July, is planned to export to 52 countries in the first phase, Toyota Turkey Corporate Relations Director Selim Okutur said June 23.“An additional investment of 150 million euros has been made for the production of the new model, in addition to the existing plant investments. We are ready to start the production of new Corolla this July and to export the new model to 52 countries,” he noted, adding that the annual production capacity for the new model was around 170,000 units.
The new Corolla is expected to appeal mainly younger buyers. “The age range for Turkish people buying their first cars is not early, between 25 and 35. However, with the new Toyota Corolla, we could attract the attention of younger Turkish consumers,” Selim Okutur said.
The Toyota Verso is also manufactured in the same plant as the new Corolla in Turkey.
