Tourists saved from rafting accident in Turkey’s south

ANTALYA

A group of tourists rafting in the southern province of Antalya’s Düden Waterfall have been saved from an accident that could have been deadly, thanks to security barriers in the middle of a creek, as locals also rushed to their rescue.

Some 16 tourists started rafting by getting on two boats in groups of eight in the afternoon hours of March 20.

As the water became more turbulent, the rafters passed the point where the boats should have stopped and started to get drifted.

But thanks to the security barriers, the boat finally pulled up and the tourists called for help from people by the waterfall.

Locals who heard the help cries succored and pulled out all of the rafters from their boats.

Some rafting tourists were advanced in years, as the rescue efforts captured on camera showed.
