Top judicial body suspends appointment of 37 judges, prosecutors on grounds of cheating

The Ankara public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the entrance examination for attorneys, judges and prosecutors in 2012 on grounds of cheating. 

The booklets of the people who received 80 points and more at the exam were investigated, with an expert report concluding that there was “strong evidence that 57 people had received the questions prior to the exam.” 

The report stated that the two people who received the highest points at the exam were married, along with 15 other couples who were successful on the exam. 

After the booklets were investigated by experts, the report concluded that eight of the mathematics questions could not have been solved by mental arithmetic; however, the booklets either had no marks or solving methods written in the booklets. 

The expert report was sent to the HSYK as part of the investigation. The HSYK has consequently decided to revoke the appointment decisions of 37 judges and prosecutors. 

The 39 people who passed the exam in 2012 were appointed as prosecutor and judges.
