The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) will build an imam-hatip high school in Diyarbakır to contribute to the transformation of the region, the body’s president, Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, has said.

“We think that the best investment is to invest in youth,” Hisarcıklıoğlu said.

Hisarcıklıoğlu said efforts to improve investments are yielding results, adding that investments in Diyarbakır will raise the employment rate, prosperity and welfare, and will remedy the trouble in the region.

“We are passing through a difficult period as a country. The ones who appeal to terror are trying to play us against each other. But they can’t do this. Because if we stand together as one, nothing can take a stand against us; there will be no obstacles that can confront us. The only thing we need to do is to continue working with full unity,” he said.

Hisarcıklıoğlu said they were planning to finish the construction of the school in a year, and the work to found a faculty of TOBB Economy and Technology University is continuing.

“As TOBB, we wanted to contribute to the transformation in the region and say, ‘We’re with you.’ We are ready to educate the youth, our future, in favorable schools and modern classrooms. Our Diyarbakır governor, deputies and stock market president wanted an imam-hatip high school from us, and we, as the board of directors, decided to build the TOBB İmam-Hatip High School. Also, the school will be built to commemorate TOBB’s 60th year,” he added.
