THY carries 18 million passengers in 5 months

Turkish Airlines (THY), the country’s flagship carrier, saw a rise in the number of passengers, which reached 18 million in the first months of the year, with a 26 percent increase from the same period last year, the company announced yesterday.The passenger occupancy rate rose to 78.5 percent with a 4.1 percent increase in the same period. The passenger occupancy rate showed a 21 percent increase on the domestic lines and a 30 percent increase on the international lines.
THY chosen ‘Best Airline in Europe’
THY has been chosen ‘Best Airline in Europe’, the third year running, ‘Best Airline in Southern Europe’ and awarded ‘Best Business Class Catering’ in 2013 Skytrax World Airline Awards’ yesterday at the Paris Air Show. The awards were presented to THY CEO, Temel Kotil CEO of Skytrax, Edward Plaisted.
The survey operated over a 10-month period, and more than 100 nationalities from over 160 countries around the world participated in the Skytrax survey. Skytrax had been seen the world leader in ranking aviation offers, assessing over 238 airlines and 148 airports.
