Three Turkish soldiers killed, 5 wounded in PKK attack in Turkey’s southeast

PKK militants detonated a roadside bomb in the Gabar mountain region of Şırnak province while a security convoy was passing by, the source said.
An operation to nab the militants was continuing, the source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media.
Earlier, it was reported that a soldier was killed and five others wounded. However, two of the wounded soldiers later succumbed to their wounds at the hospital. Two more soldiers were injured later and rushed to a hospital in Şırnak.
Five PKK militants were killed during the operations, the Şırnak Governor’s Office said in a statement issued on April 4.
Meanwhile, at least four PKK militants were killed in air strikes carried out by Turkish jets in northern Iraq, the military said.
The operation was launched early on April 4 on PKK targets in northern Iraq’s Sinat and Haftanin regions, the General Staff said, adding that the jets also destroyed shelters and two weapon emplacements belonging to the group.
