Three songs premiered by Borusan
ISTANBUL
Borusan Quartet will perform newly commissioned works in a world premier on Feb. 4 in Istanbul. Commissioned by Mahir Çetiz, Özkan Manav and Hasan Uçarsu, the works have been titled “Three composers, 3 premiers.”Composed by Esen Kıvrak, Olgu Kızılay, Efdal Altun and Çağ Erçağ the songs will be performed in a special concert marking their introduction to the world’s music scene.
Along with winning awards at composition competitions, Çetiz has previously had one of his composed pieces performed by world-renowned Turkish pianist, Fazıl Say. Manav has represented Turkey in the world music scene for many years through multiple different variants of compositions, many of which fuse contemporary and traditional musical styles together. Uçarsu has also won many awards throughout his career, with many of his compositions having been performed by talented musicians.
Swiss clarinet virtuoso Reto Bieri will accompany the quartet during the concert. Bieri will play Mozart’s clarinet quintet composition with the Borusan quartet. Bieri will reflect his standard repertoire for his own instrument and also contemporary music.
