Three quakes shake Turkey

ISTANBUL

Last week, a quake measuring 6.5 caused damage and minor injuries, with the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announcing that 266 people had been injured due to the panic in Turkey.

Three minor earthquakes shook Turkey early on May 28 following last week’s strong temblor in the Aegean Sea that has revived fears of seismic activity across the country.

A 4.5-magnitude quake occurred in the Saroz Gulf at a depth of 13.3 kilometers at 6:59 a.m., according to Istanbul’s Kandilli Observatory. It was felt in Çanakkale and nearby towns.

Meanwhile, two quakes struck the eastern provinces of Erzurum and Ağrı. A 4.2-magnitude quake hit Kars while a 4.3-magnitude temblor shook Erzurum.

No casualties were reported.
